Introducing: The Ulysse Nardin Diver Atoll with Chrysocolla Dial

Ulysse Nardin has always been associated with the sea, from its early days as a purveyor of precision marine chronometers to its current nautical-inspired collection, which includes classical references like the Marine Torpilleur or more contemporary, high-performance Divers. Offered in three case sizes, the more compact 39mm model returns with a stunning mottled neon blue and green stone dial.Released in 2021 as part of a trilogy, the 39mm Diver has appeared with gem-set bezels, like this tutti-frutti Diver Rainbow and diamond-set bezels on the Diver Starry Night. The latest reference has a 39mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 11mm and contrasting brushed and polished finishings. In line with the Diver collection's commitment to sustainability, 80% of the steel used for the case is recycled. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The case and its closed caseback ensure a solid 300m water-resistance, and the unidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale sparkles with the light of 40 brilliant-cut diamonds.Evoking the ever-changing colours of the sea, the dial is made from chrysocolla, a relatively abundant silicate mineral with striking swirls of blue, turquoise and green and speckles of coppery brown. Each dial is cut by hand and is a one-off thanks to the stone's unique patterning.Following the style of earlier editions of the Diver, the dial is set with 11 diamond indices. Designed as a versatile and resilient everyday watch, there is a round date aperture carved into the stone dial at 6 o'clock. The central hands, including the lollipop seconds hand, are treated with luminescent material, as is the applied marker at noon.The sealed caseback, decorated with an engraving of a wind rose, protects the in-house automatic movement UN-816 with its 42-hour power reserve.
