Introducing: The Pink Gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph

The classic Reverso Chronograph, a watch initially presented in 1996, is a piece of great historical importance. It was the first manually wound integrated chronograph to be developed in the post-quartz era, marking the return to classic watchmaking. Last year, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented the Reverso Tribute Chronograph, a Duoface model looking back at this 1990s classic, equipped with an evolution of its movement and housed in a more modernly designed watch. The model is now back in a new pink gold limited edition, where the noble metal is used for the case but also the dial and movement bridges. Miles away from the initial vocation of a chronograph, but also closer in style to its late 20th-century predecessor.?Technically speaking and regarding the main specifications, this new edition of the Reverso Tribute Chronograph is identical to last year’s steel and gold models. What changes is basically the visual side and the materials used. There is indeed a lot of gold here. The case, with the classic reversible system of the collection and a double-face architecture, measures 49.4mm in length and 29.9mm in width, making a relatively long but narrow watch. The good news, despite having a chronograph and a complex case, it’s thin at 11.14mm. It’s made of 18k pink gold, polished and with the classic Art Deco gadroons. While the 2023 editions were rather sleek, this new limited edition adds more drama, with a solid gold dial laser-engraved with fine horizontal lines and gold hands and applied markers. The only contrasting element is the black railroad minute track. Rotate the case and you’re looking at the business side, with the movement barely covered by the chronograph indications, and another set of hands to indicate the time – so the watch can also be worn on this side and give the time. You’ll notice that there’s more going on here, and not only because of the movement, but also due to the blued screws, the contrasting hands and mainly, the central 60-second track and the retrograde 30-minute gauge for the chronograph.Talking about the movement, this new Reverso Tribute Chronograph now has pink gold bridges to match the full precious attire – somehow connecting it to the 1996 movement with its gold-coated bridges, even if the cool running indicator on the dial has been removed (the date too, but that’s for the best). The calibre 860 is an evolution of the 1996 base, reworked with more opened bridges, and a more solid power reserve (52h) but still the same integrated architecture with column-wheel and horizontal clutch.
