TAG HEUER 50 Years of Carrera - Monochrome Watches

Ever since the public viewed the first Carrera chronograph, affectionately named “the Panda” for its black and white color scheme, collectors have vied for possession. Named for the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race, the Carrera was the first chronograph designed for motorsports, and race car drivers and enthusiasts responded. In 1996, TAG Heuer re-introduced the Carrera; in 2010, the Calibre 1887 was born; and in 2013, the Calibre 1969 joined the ranks. In addition, the Mikrograph and Mikrogirder have elevated the Carrera into the heights of Haute Horlogerie. Over the years, the Carrera has advanced in its technology while retaining its unmistakable DNA. Now we can see the Carrera through the years.In 2013, TAG Heuer celebrated 50 Years of Carrera. The anniversary allowed them to showcase the Calibre 1887. They announced, “This year's (2013) Carrera chronographs all house one of TAG Heuer's proudest technical achievements – the in-house manufactured movement that re-engineers one of Edouard Heuer's greatest contributions to watchmaking: the oscillating pinion of 1887.” Later the same year, the Calibre 1969 arrived.
